Description: Marble is a medium to coarse-grained, non-foliated, a metamorphosed (recrystallized) carbonate rock (limestone - calcite mineral, dolomite rock - dolomite mineral). Marble is mostly composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Marble in Geology has somewhat more restrictive meaning than in commerce. Of great importance in building, both as rough stone and as polished slabs.

Non-essential minerals: sometimes none :), but Graphite, Pyrite, Ilmenite can be present.
