More model informationThis vestment set was made by Louis Grosse of London in the early 20th century. The chasuble is in the ‘Gothic’ shape modified from the original circular with an opening for the head. The stole is worn under the chasuble. It would have been worn at Marian feasts as this example is sewn with roses and fleur de lys, all symbols of Mary. Until the mid-20th Century both the priest and congregation faced East, therefore, the image of Mary is on the back where the congregation would see it. The Angel Gabriel is embroidered on the front.
