In 1872 two winged lions where made for the main entrance of the old Vienna railway station. After the conversion of the railway station in 1959, one lion was removed to Laxenburg (this scan) and the other one is in the new station. The Lion of Saint Mark representing the evangelist St. Mark and is the symbol of the city of Venice.
