Delivered via an interplanetary cargo transport system, 100 metric tonnes of thin film solar cell modules are individually and autonomously rolled out in a flower petal formation around the main dome.
When deployed, each module measures 2 meters by 100 meters, and when used as part of the petal array, the entire system supplies up to 500 kW (CIGS or CZTS PV tech) of power to the colony.
Used Blender v2.7 and GIMP v2.8 to model and texture this scene.
SpaceX’s BFR vehicle and the ennvironment was modeled after the concept video recently published .
Sky environment texture is a slightly modified panorama taken by the Curiosity rover currently cruising the dunes of Mars, and the ground texture (ESP_034259_2040) is a photo taken by the HiRISE spacecraft orbiting the red planet.
