1912 was the year in which the Martin Luther figure was erected at the Michel. It was created by Otto Lessing, a great-grandnephew of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, who actually worked in Berlin. The Martin Luther monument was the last sculpture Lessing was to complete in his lifetime. He died in the same year.
