Marzuolo Archaeological Project (MAP) is an international and multi-institutional (University of Arkansas, Cornell University, Radboud University, and University of Melbourne) fieldwork project centered on the Roman minor center at Podere Marzuolo (Cinigiano, GR) in southcentral Tuscany, Italy. MAP launched in 2016 with the aim of reconstructing the dynamics of this rural site at high resolution. The settlement has a long history of occupation that dates from the Late Republican (1st c. BC) through the Medieval periods (11th /12th c. AD). These models capture the 2023 excavation of Areas 21000 and 22000, located in the southwestern zone of the site. The rooms uncovered in these areas belong to a large masonry complex in use in the Roman period. The structure was comprised of a long back wall off of which single cells open to the south. In one of the rooms, excavators uncovered the remains of a well.
