This model is a mastodon maxilla measuring 36” x 24” x 18”.

Technical

The maxilla was captured in 1856 slices at a resolution of 0.5mm per slice. The volumetric scan was segmented using 3D Slicer. The resulting model was decimated in Agisoft Metashape and processed with Autodesk Meshmixer.

This model is part of a collection of artifacts scanned in collaboraton with Jason Howery at Missouri Western State University.
