More model informationWe wanted our robot to use a drivetrain based around Mecanum wheels. They are a special type of wheel that allows for some of the torque to go forwards and some to go sideways. When these wheels are paired together and each one has its own motor, you can drive in any direction. The robot can rotate, drive forwards, backwards, straight left or straight right without the need for steering. Unfortunately, the wheels are too large to be practical and we were concerned about our ability to drive over obstacles.
