More model informationThe wood used for shields had to be thick enough for protection as well as light enough to lift for long periods of time. The metal boss in the centre was useful for protection, deflection, attacking and as a way to know that your shield was aligned properly in the shield wall. the rim was usually covered with leather or raw hide. This shield is painted to show that the warrior belongs to the Morvleydh warband.
