This megalodon (Otodus megalodon) belonged to Thomas Jefferson. It was a gift of Dr. William Reid in 1806 and was from the Racehope Estate, Cooper River, South Carolina. These are categorized as coastal plain sediments dating to the Miocene-Pliocene. It was 3-D scanned with a NextEngine Desktop 3-D scanner on March 11, 2020 at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia.
