Mykhailo Hrushevskyi State Memorial Museum in Lviv was opened in 2000 in the memorial villa near Stryiskyi Park, where the outstanding historian and the first President of Modern Ukrainian State (1 917-1 918) lived with his family in 1902-1 914. Mykhailo Hrushevskyi (1866-1934) is one of the most prominent figures in the history of Ukraine of modern times. He was the greatest among Ukrainian historians (“History of Ukraine-Rus ” in 10 volumes), the leader of unofficial Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in Austrian Galicia, “Shevchenko Scientific Society”. the head of many Ukrainian institutions, such as “Literary and Scientific Herald”, “Archives of Ukraine”. “Historical Sources to the History of Ukraine- Rus” etc. The Museum is a modern historical and cultural institution with the collection of relics.
