Model of the basement kitchen at 29 East Fourth Street, New York City. The Merchant’s House Museum is the only nineteenth century home in NYC that has been preserved intact. Both the interior and exterior of this National Historic Landmark property (also listed in the NRHP and an NYC Landmark) reflect its past as the home of the Tredwells, a wealthy merchant family. 2016 marks the 80th anniversary of the museum. The Merchant’s House Museum remains a unique time capsule, complete with the original possessions of the Tredwells.
