This mermaid in on the 15th C. Doorway at Clontuskert Co. Galway. The Mermaids is on the right hand side of the doorway, and is shown with a comb and mirror. She is surrounded by a shoal of fish and flanked on the right by an IHC and interlace Cross. Higgins suggests the fish are the Christian souls the mermaid is trying to lure, while the cross and IHC are juxtapositions. One of the fish can be seen biting the mermaid’s fin.
