Messmer the Impaler is a Legacy Boss in Elden Ring. Messmer the Impaler is a boss added in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and can only be challenged by players who possess the DLC. He is accompanied by a snake and uses fire based Spells to attack the player, as well as a large spear. He resembles another Red Haired Demigod and is connected to Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy through the red snakes he carries. This is NOT an optional boss as players need to defeat it to advance in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
