More model informationThis is an man-made object, possibly a residue of a medieval iron foundry. While the provenance of some objects is difficult to establish, such as this iron object, its irregular shape, mass and iron composition (it attracts a magnet) could prompt one to erroneously think it is an iron meteorite. After a piece was cut off, it exposed a vesicle-right (bubble rich) interior. This is typical for escaping gass during smelting processes in foundry, but not for iron meteorites. A simple nickel test also did not show nickel to be present, which is a chemical property for the nickel-iron alloy found in iron meteorites.
