The ASP-17ML heads up display was created by Kyiv Central Design Bureau “Arsenal” and introduced for the MiG-23MLA (23-12A) in 1978. It was an evolution of the previous ASP-23DTsM HUD, but made from the basis of the ASP-17 as developed for MiG-23B. This meant it had better A/G capabilites, including CCIP and CCRP.
It could display CRT symbology for radar/IRST targets, navigation, A/A cannon and flight data, while still keeping the ASP-17’s traditional electromechanical gunsight as a secondary mode (АСП/РП).
I had nothing but a handful of reference photos to eyeball the proportions from, so don’t expect 1:1 accuracy.
Modelled in Blender, textured in Substance Painter.
