I’ve created this mimic within ZBrush first, and painted the texture in Substance Painter over a weekend. Much of the design was built with animals like hermit crabs or clams in mind. I imagined it might use an old found object (like a chest) as a shell, and change shells when it gets worn out or too big. And much like a clam, its hard on the outside, and quite squishy inside.
The top, bottom, and front have more scratch marks than the sides and back. The bottom is scratched from years of being moved around, the top has a few dents, likely from a sword swing, and the front has a few morbid fingernail scratches off to the right.
The iron is quite corroded, and the wood is mottled black from rust seepage. If there were hinges or a locking mechanism, they’ve long since fallen off.
Designed for usage with PBR materials (metallic/rough).
