The Phoenix is a symbol of rebirth, innocence, and eternity. It was worshiped in the later days of Egypt, and was said to have laid down its ashes on the alter of the sun in the place where on of Eygpt’s captital cities, Heliopolis, would later be founded. The idea of A rising and dying deity may have been a strong influence on the philosaphy of religions such as Christianity and Islam.
