Bathing at Minehead has been a popular activity for nearly two hundred years. By 1885 bathing machines offered privacy for ladies who wanted to swim but protect their modesty from the prying eyes of spectators. The machines were pulled down the beach into the water by a horse.
Google ‘Minehead Maritime Mile iOS app’ to learn more and see the bathing machine appear on Minehead seafront again, using Augmented Reality.
