More model informationThe 194 ft Miztec was built as a three-masted schooner in 1890 and later converted to a schooner barge which was towed by the wooden freighter Myron for most of its career. In 1919 the Miztec narrowly escaped the storm that sank the Myron east of Whitefish Point only to end up sinking two years later about two miles from the Myron in another storm while being towed by the Zillah. None of the crew survived the sinking. The wreck now is a popular dive site and lies on the sandy bottom in 50 ft of water about seven miles east of Whitefish Point. The model of the large site was created from 2,391 30 megapixel images shot by Ken Merryman on a DPV.
