More model informationThe Mark 18 Close Quarters Battle Receiver is a modified variant of the M4A1 rifle popular in the US armed forces, and is intended for use in urban settings where a rifle-caliber round is necessary in a setting where the length of a full rifle may prohibit maneuverability.
This was one of the first models I can recall doing in my own spare time without guidance and was where I established my personal workflow, concretely, from start to finish:
- Find/develop vector reference in Illustrator or a similar program,
- Box model all of the components (Maya)
- Individually unwrap all pieces (Blender, because that unwrap tool is great!)
- Hand-lay the UVs so that they pack tightly onto a texture sheet in a way that makes sense to me while also optimized for maximum texel density. (Back in Maya again)
- Paint it! (Substance)
