More model informationThe Mocs is an ordinary chondrite (L5-6) that fell on 3 February 1882 in Romania. This specimen is one of the thousands of stones that fell in a large strewn field near the village Mocs, totalling a mass of 300 kg. Studies of cosmogenic radionuclides by Ferok et al., 2000, indicate that the meteoroid was first buried deep inside a parent asteroid for some 110 Ma. Later on it was part of a ~65 cm radius meteoroid that was exposed to cosmic rays for 10.5 Ma before it entered the Earth’s atmosphere. This meteorite is part of the study collection of the Faculty Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft.
