More model information

This is an swimming animation of a subadult male Manta Ray (“Skye” Mobula c.f. birostris, disk width=2.5 m) that was reconstructed from a combination of drone, gopro, and other video imagery and morphometric data. Skye was filmed primarily while swimming off the coast of Palm beach, Florida. Jessica Pate and her team with the Marine Megafauna Foundation (www.marinemegafauna.org) were instrumental for filming Skye and providing access to other data on Manta Rays. The ANGARI Foundation (www.angari.org) and Angela Rosenberg coordinated and supported this research. Jonathan Bayuk and Ken Morton kindly donated funding to enable this research. CG artist Johnson Martin used the data provided to reconstruct and animate the model.
