Model Prison of Barcelona, built between 1881 and 1904 with an architectural project by Salvador Viñals and José Doménech i Estapá, inspired on La Santé Prison in Paris (1867). The prison has a panopticon based on the concept by british Jeremy Bentham, where there is an inspection house at the center of the prison working as an all-seeing eye. The prison has 6 galleries, and a capacity of housing 800 prisoners isolated in 4x2,4 m2. The prison was detinitely closed on June 8, 2017, one day before the 113th anniversary of its inauguration.
