Made by russian artist Vladimir Sourovtsev.
Monument inaugurated in 2011, commemorating memory of russian expeditionary force in France during WW1. In 1916, as the situation in France was critical, the allies asked Russia for help. Two brigades were sent from Russia. They will find themselves engaged in regions where the british, french, italians but also (in Macedonia) albanians, greeks and portuguese collaborate.
On 20 000 soldiers, more than 5000 died, mostly in the second battle of the Aisne (Bataille du Chemin des Dames).
The expeditionary corps suffered the decomposition of the army like the entire imperial army after the russian revolution of 1917.
