More model informationMoon Snail House is a proposed sculptural installation to be situated near an intertidal zone in Nanaimo, BC. The artwork invites interaction, cultivating curiosity and appreciation for housing and sea life. It is inspired by the shell of Lewis’ moon snail (neverita lewisii), one of the largest marine gastropod molluscs found in our local waters. The shell sculpture would be approximately 6 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide which would allow people to go inside and peer out of its entrance, mimicking the way snails’ bodies occupy their shells. Other interior and exterior features are still being considered and remain to be determined.
