More model informationThis ceramic stove tile (approximately 7.5 x 8 in) is decorated in a “paneled” pattern with accompanying corner acorns said to evoke a baroque aesthetic (Bivins: 1972, 185). In addition to making both decorative and utilitarian pottery, Moravian potters created ceramic tiles for wood-burning stoves, assembling many of them as well. Moravian-made tile stoves were popular in and around the Triad Region of North Carolina from the mid-18th century through the first half of the 19th century.
