This is a high-resolution Digital Outcrop Model of the Strathdon MAHLI target in the Glen Torridon clay-bearing unit of Gale crater, Mars. This model is made using 16 photos taken by the MAHLI instrument, a microscope mounted on the robotic arm of the rover Curiosity.
These images were taken on sol 2424, in June 2019, and are available on the JPL MSL Raw images archive.
This sandstone bed, part of the Woodland Bay outcrop, features alternating cm-scale laminated fine sandstone beds of varying resistance to erosion. Interestingly, cross-bedding of varying scale is observed in both the beds and the internal laminations.
