The Morro das Furnas geomorphosite, also known as Torre do Meio, is the biggest among all other sites (length – 800 m, width – 220 m). It displays elliptical form, with an NNE-SSW-striking major axis. The landform, with a maximum height of ~35 m, forms a protuberance in the coastline, as it advances towards the shoreface zone. The southeastern border is a cliff, with a plinth below the sea level. There are three caves (niches) at the cliff’s base, which give the name to the hill (Morro das Furnas = Caves Hill in Portuguese). There are four stairways to go down the cliffs, giving access to a natural platform a few meters above the sea level, suitable to be visited under fair weather and normal sea conditions (Zerfass et al. 2020).
