More model informationThe monastry Flor da Rosa is a fortified castle build in 1356 by the Prior of the knight order of hospitallers, Alvaro Goncalves Pereira. The site is the supposed birth place of Nuno Alvares Pereira, saint constable of Portugal, an important figure in portugese history and an ancestor of the House of Braganza. The building also houses the tomb of Alvaro Pereira.
Since the 1940s the site has been converted to a Pousadas, as a chain of luxury hotels located in historical buildings.
