Built in 1935 during Garnet’s Depression-era revival, the Mountain View Mill (originally called the Majestic Mill) processed ore from the Mountain View and Majestic lodes, located just east of town. Operated by various owners and lessees, the mill grew to include a 25-ton amalgamation plant with added flotation and concentration systems. Though ore values were modest, the mill supported steady employment and helped sustain the Garnet community during the 1930s. Mining ceased in 1939, ending another brief boom in Garnet’s history.
