More model informationThis is a carved stone located at the entrance barbican to Moygara Castle (SL044-052001-) near the shores of Lough Gara in south Co. Sligo. It has a Record of Monuments & Places (RMP) number of SL044-052002-. It was described by E.M. Guest in 1936 as ‘a limestone block, on the corbelled end of which the figure is rudely carved, now lies on the ground near the castle entrance’. It has been interpreted as an “exhibitionist figure” but is very weathered and its true nature is difficult to ascertain.
