This site is located about 100m west of the summit. Over 3,000 relics such as Buddhist altar fittings, bronze mirrors, arms, harnesses, beads, and ceramics were discovered during the survey. Since Mt. Nantai has long been an object of worship, these are thought to be offerings to the mountain deity. It is said that this mountain has been worshiped after Shodo Shonin, a monk from Shimotsukenokuni (now Tochigi prefecture), climbed for the first time in 782. However, since some of relics date back to the 6th century, it is clearly that the origin of the worship goes back that far. Although it has nothing to do with religious beliefs, there are stone arrowheads found near the 8th station, so we know that footprints on this mountain date back even further to the Jomon period.
