This project is a detailed 3D reconstruction of a Murmillo gladiator’s helmet of ancient Rome. Renowned for their heavy armor and role as antagonists to the Retiarius (net-fighter), the Murmillo embodied strength and resilience in the arena. This second iteration (V2) focuses on enhancing the helmet’s historical accuracy and visual impact, emphasizing its formidable and protective design. The Murmillo’s gear was designed for defense and intimidation. This helmet features a broad, angled brim to deflect attacks, a heavy face grille to protect against tridents and nets, and a large, distinctive crest (crista) which likely served as a symbol of rank and a psychological tool to intimidate opponents. The design is based on historical references from Pompeii mosaics and archaeological finds. This asset is available for licensing and personal use. Feel free to contact me for more information.
