Museum of Fine Art of Precarpathians in Ivano-Frankivsk is housed in the former Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Collegiate Church. It is one of the oldest buildings in the city, constructed between 1703 and 1729 in the Baroque style. Originally, it served as the main parish church of the city, but during the Soviet period the building was adapted for museum use. With the restoration of Ukraine’s independence, an exhibition of sacred art was opened here, which corresponded to the spirit and historical character of the monument. The digitalisation of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary became possible thanks to the support of the European Union within the framework of the House of Europe programme.
