Revised 24 Sep 22
Documentation of a street car, possibly mule-drawn from the 19th century. Road Railways, or Street Cars were introduced to Nashville in 1866. They began to be converted to electricity in 1889. They were not reffered to as Trolley Cars.
2 wheelsets* present: one 16’ from west side, and one 41” from east end.
Blockset: 21” high, 8’ wide and 6” deep
2 iron 12 spoked wheels, 26” in diameter, 5” wide, axel 2.5” in diameter
See the 3d photogrametry of the west end of the street car about 16’ from the end: https://skfb.ly/oysto
See Street Car #2 front wooden spoked wheel: https://skfb.ly/oystD
- one expert thinks that these wheels may have been used to move the car from the track and are not original to the car.
