4/9/2019. The goal of The Nature Conservancy is to stabilize an eroding streambank on the mainstem of the Elk River using sound scientific and engineering foundations. Importantly, the project serves as a demonstration of nature-based approaches to stream management using natural channel design techniques, bioengineering, and similar function-based approaches to streambank stabilization to maximally restore the hydraulic, geomorphological, and ecological function of the site.
