Opis: Navadna amorfa je razrasel listopadni grm, visok 1–3 m. Listi so premenjalno razvrščeni, lihopernato sestavljeni, lističi so ozkojajčasti. Na vrhu poganjkov se razvijejo ozka grozdasta socvetja s številnimi črnoškrlatnimi cvetovi, iz katerih molijo rumene prašnice. Po cvetenju se razvijejo dvosemenski, okoli 1 cm dolgi temnopikčasti stroki, ki vsebujejo po eno seme. Rastlina obogati tla z dušikom.
Čas cvetenja: junij.
Zrelost semen: od julija (avgusta) naprej.
Razmnoževanje in razširjanje: spolno s semeni in vegetativno z razraščanjem podzemnih delov.
Rastišča: Navadna amorfa je okrasni grm, sajen tudi zaradi medonosnosti. V naravi se pojavlja ob cestah ter na vlažnih opuščenih travnikih in poplavnih mestih. Najbolje uspeva na svetlih mestih, vendar je sposobna rasti tudi zasenčena. Je zelo prilagodljiva vrsta s sposobnostjo hitrega razširjanja, včasih lahko povsem izpodrine avtohtono vegetacijo. Dobro prenaša veter.
