More model informationA flower pot with neoclassical scene of women dancing found at the Dolphin Hotel, Southampton (Hampshire, UK). The hotel is a Grade II* Listed Building and is the oldest inn in Southampton. The hotel was a coaching inn during the 17th century which became fashionable to stay at when Southampton was a spa-town from 1750 to 1820. Queen Victoria, Admiral Lord Nelson and William Makepeace Thackeray visited here and Jane Austen attended dances here during her stay in the town during 1806 to 1809. Jane also celebrated her 18th birthday at the hotel in 1793 and it is said that she attended a ball in the 1st floor ballroom.
