More model informationNephrops is a genus of lobster known from several fossil species and a single extant species, Nephrops norvegicus (the Norway lobster or Dublin Bay prawn).
Nephrops reedi was discovered in Boyton, Sussex, UK and described by James Carter in 1898. The holotype (YM 813) is the fixed finger of the claw and features many large bumps called ‘tubercles’. N. reedi differs from the modern N. norvegicus most notably in size, with the fossil species being much larger with larger tubercles.
