These are my memories of growing up and working on my homeland Nepouie, that I am sharing with you. Nepouie is the place of Springwater, nipa – ‘flat rock’ and awi – ‘water’ in Adnyamathanha Ngawarla. These drawings in clay mark my childhood memories of an important place. They are carved into the belly of a water carrier, a water carrier that stores underground bore water. This form references the bore that was sunk in my homeland in the mid-1800s. We are Adnyamathanha people, rock people, we understand our land and the importance of awi.
