More model informationThis marble figure represents a lion with its mouth open, crouching for a spring. The bristling manes are arranged in a series of locks in parallel rows. The left fore leg is mended. The lower jaw, tail and a part of the left hind leg are missing. The statue is not certainly associated with the Nereid monument. They appear stylistically earlier in date.
