Nether Largie North cist slab, Kilmartin Glen 3D Model
This decorated slab was found during excavation beneath a large Bronze Age cairn in Kilmartin Glen, Argyll. The stone was found with the carvings face down, sealing a funerary cist. Four phases of carving may be represented, beginning with cup marks. Bronze or copper axeheads were later added, some superimposed upon the cups. A smooth area to the left side of the stone appears less weathered and could suggest that this was once a standing stone, not unlike those at Nether Largie nearby.
The cairn of Nether Largie North also covered other features, uncluding stone sockets. It is part of a linear cemetery which extends for several kilometres.
I have also uploaded a version of this model which does not have photographic textures. This makes the axehead carvings easier to see.
