Netsuke. Noh masks. Made of ivory. Signed.

This intriguting netsuke is created out of a grouping of fifteen masks used during the performance of Noh plays. In this netsuke certain characters are recognizable, such as Okina (kindly old man), Ko-Omote (young woman) and Chujo (young nobleman). Mask netsuke often feature groups of multiple masks, as seen in this example. (NT 2015)
