More model informationThe side-wheeler New Orleans was built in 1838 as the Vermillion. It burned to the waterline in 1842 but was salvaged, rebuilt and lengthened then renamed New Orleans. Today what remains of the New Orleans lies in shallow water in the Thunderbay Marine Sanctuary in Lake Huron. It is visited regularly by glass bottom boat tours, snorkelers, and kayakers. The model was created from 1,140 30 megapixel RAW images color corrected and converted to .jpg.
