Newport News Middle Ground Light is a lighthouse situated in the midst of the busy shipping lanes off the coast ofl Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA. It is the oldest caisson lighthouse in Virginia.
The lighthouse has five levels, beginning with a basement in the top of the caisson; the main level, which contained most of the living space; the next level up originally housed equipment, and above this is the watchroom, featuring an iron floor and tongue-and-groove walls. An iron ladder ascends through the ceiling of the watchroom, leading to the octagonal lantern room.
The Billingsley and Gonsoulin families have renovated the lighthouse and use it as a holiday home.
