Across the American Southwest, “Newspaper Rock” is a common nickname given to petroglypyh panels with particularly numerous and dense arrangements of petroglyph elements. The boulder in this example is no exception, with a wide variety of designs from many time periods covering its upper face, and more designs on adjacent faces and boulders.
