The Niederfinow Boat Lift was completed in 1934 and is the oldest working boat lift in Germany. It lies on the Oder-Havel Canal near Niederfinow in Brandenburg. The new lift was opened in 2021 and can lift ships up to a length of 110m. It enables container traffic between Berlin and the Baltic Sea. Both lifts overcomes a difference in elevation of about 36 metres (water levels respectively at 1.15 m and 37.35 m AMSL).
3D Model: the topography is extracted from the LiDAR survey of Brandenburg in 2019 and colored by intensity. The Boat Lifts and surrounding amenities are colored with ambient occlusion in light grey. The historic plan (color scale “Jet”) has been geolocated on the XY plane, then projected vertically onto the existing topographic height taken from the LiDAR survey, and finally raised 10 cm in the Z axis to stand out visually.
