Semicircular marble base, with reliefs depicting ten gods and heroes, in a ‘manneristic archaizing’ (Neoattic) style.
Probably from the altar of Apollo; found during excavation of Octavian’s victory monument for Actium on the site of his camp; an inscription dates the monument’s dedication to 29-27 BCE.
