North Scarpigarth 19th century croft, Shetland3D Model
North Scarpigarth was a 19th century farmstead in the Upper Weisdale valley in Shetland. The families who lived in the farms at Scarpigarth were evicted during the 1860s when the land was turned over to commercial sheep farming. North Scarpigarth was probably the last house to be added to the cluster of houses on the west side of the valley and shows many of the characteristics of the later 19th century vernacular adaptations that took their influence from the building styles of the Scottish Mainland, such as the separation of the house, barn and byre.
